 Born in 1954, deafened at the age of one and educated in
Mumbai, Shri Anantadev
Das (but his passport name is Ashok Rao) took up Krishna
consciousness in 1981 after he was in search of Truth for a few years. In
1983, he founded Hare Krishna Welfare for the Deaf (HKWD) in order to help
for the educational, cultural and spiritual welfare of the hearing
impaired. For a few years under Anantadev's guidance HKWD held various
programmes for the deaf in Mumbai. From 1986 Shri Anantadev Das regularly
helped the deaf in his preaching activities in Bangalore. In 1992, he
decided to settle in Bangalore. He had been invited to give spiritual
lectures in Chennai, New Delhi, Ahmedabad, Pune and Tumkur. In 1986 in
Washington D.C., USA for one day he gave a speech to the deaf students of
religion and philosophy at the famous university 'Gallaudet University'
and received a beautiful appreciation letter of the hearing professor of
religion and philosophy. His center is located at ISRO Layout,
Bangalore. |
